Although Mixxx 2.2.3 contains many important updates and bugfixes, it's possible some users may experience issues. If you do, you can still get our previous stable version, Mixxx 2.1.8.
Mixxx v2.1 has hit public beta for Mac, Windows, and Linux — download installers here. As a guide, the latest Mac beta (which I suspect are early betas) has crashed for me while analysing tracks, so don’t go using it where your career depends on it. Apr 18, 2018 For users upgrading from Mixxx 2.0 or older, we have a few important announcements. First, if you are using Windows, you will have to uninstall any old versions of Mixxx before you can install 2.1 (unless you were using the 2.1 beta or release candidate). How to uninstall Mixxx varies on different versions of Windows.

- Mixxx accepted for GSoC 2020! Posted on 2020-02-20 by Jan Holthuis. Mixxx has been accepted as a mentoring organization for Google Summer of Code 2020, a global program that aims to bring more student developers into the world of open source development. This means that students have the opportunity to work on Mixxx full-time as a 3 month programming project and receive a stipend.
- Two years ago, Mixxx 1.11.0 was released, and at the time Mark expressed concerns about the lack of key features, and the future of the project under the open source free model. Since then, the Mixxx team took the words in the manner in which they were offered, and came back with a humungous upgrade. The public Mixxx 1.12 offers four decks, effects, and a generous serving of more stuff.
- May 02, 2015 Thanks to all of your help with alpha testing we just released Mixxx 1.12 Beta! We still need your help though! We've got a ton of work to do before we can ship 1.12.0 final. The plan is that the beta will be a rolling release that we update on a regular basis.
- Mixxx beta releases for users who'd like to test out new features at the expense of some stability. These releases may be unstable and we strongly recommend that you avoid using them for live performances.
You don't need to pay for Mixxx because you can get it here for free.There is no official paid or 'pro' version of Mixxx.The version available here is the full version.We happily provide Mixxx for free and donations are appreciated but not required.

Download Mixxx 2.2.3 for 16.04 (Xenial) or later:

Ubuntu Repositories:
Ubuntu also provides a version of Mixxx which can be installed directly from the Ubuntu Software Centre. This version is usually woefully out of date; therefore using the PPA is advised.
Fedora
An RPM packagefor installation is available in theRPM Fusion repositories.
Please refer to RPM Fusion's instructionson how to enable the repositories on your system. Mixxx only requires enabling thefree repository; the nonfree repository is not necessary for Mixxx.
RPM Fusion builds are maintained by the Mixxx development team.We support the next, the current, and selected previousFedora release(s) if possible.

We’re always looking for new contributors who are interested in working on Mixxx. If you’re a hacker, artist, or translator and want to work with a creative, enthusiastic team, hop on our IRC channel (#mixxx on Freenode) or sign up for our developer mailing list.
It feels like ages since the last update to Mixxx. Personally, I’m a big proponent of opensourcesoftware (or FLOSS, if you like), but the nature of the beast means it just won’t have the resources to keep up with big companies like Adobe or Native Instruments. I would personally be quite happy moving over to one of the flavours of Debian-bases Linux, if not for the fact most of my music software doesn’t exist there. The situation is much better than it has ever been, with apps like xwax, Ardour or Blender. And now Mixxx has raised their open source game yet again.
The app isn’t perfect, though. There are several skins built in to this release, including one that’s almost certainly influenced by Ableton Live’s UI, but they all still feel a bit busy and cluttered and it can be hard to see what is where on screen when you first try it. Setting up isn’t as plug ‘n’ play as commercial offerings, either, with mapping options relying on DIY rather than a large existing library of controllers.
All in all, this seems like a solid beta from the team, and hats off to them for doing it off their own backs and in their spare time. While two years might seem like a long time to develop a new version of DJ software, when you think about how it’s done by a team of coders all around the world, as a hobby, the new features are not only welcome, they’re even more impressive. Take that Native and Serato!
